Burial Rites

The image shows the burial rites of the Paleolithic age. (oops, it's the Paleolithic not Mesolithic like I mentioned in the earlier post)

He was buried in a fetal position, with legs folded up to the chest, the right hand bent up towards the shoulder and the left hand on the abdomen.
The body was placed in a one meter-deep grave perpendicular to the cave entrance.

Offerings of food such as meat shells were found with the body, as well as 10 different types of tools. (what are meat shells anyway??)
As a final touch, 2 878 shells were placed on and around the body.

When my lecturer read out that final sentence of 2 878 shells, I just couldn't help it but asked her, "Oh, they can count wan ar..?" to which she replied yes they could count..=p
